LoLita started braiding hair at the age of 12. Her mother spent hundreds of dollars getting her hair braided only to notice her daughter was unhappy with the way her hair was braided and the braids would not last any longer than two weeks. In frustration her mother decided she would no longer spend money to have her daughter's hair braided; so her daughter asked her for $5.00 to but two bags of black and gold hair so she could braid it herself. Lolita was a natural at braiding her own hair so she started to braid her mothers hair. With the knowledge LoLita held she decided to braid hair on the side from the age of 14 to the present time.
